When Kendall Jenner wants her glasses to look good off duty, she has reached more than once for the same independent label: Garrett Leight California Optical. She has worn two of the Venice Beach brand's metal frames on the record. One is the round Wilson, which the brand itself names her as a fan of. The other is the Palms aviator, which she wore during Paris Fashion Week in 2015. Here is what's verified, and how to get the look from our Garrett Leight collection.
The verified sightings
- Garrett Leight Palms, Paris Fashion Week (October 2015). Kendall wore the Palms optical frame in the gold-butterscotch colorway around Paris Fashion Week. Bustle reported she wore it to a Harper's Bazaar signing in Paris with Gigi Hadid, and E! News also identified the frame as the Garrett Leight Palms. The Hollywood Reporter spoke with Garrett Leight himself about it. He explained that the Palms was an older style from a few seasons earlier, inspired by Kiefer Sutherland's character in the film *Freeway*.
- Garrett Leight Wilson (2015 onward). In September 2015, Steal Her Style identified the Garrett Leight Wilson glasses in an Instagram photo Kendall shared. Garrett Leight's own journal has since named her as a Wilson wearer twice. It said the Wilson had been worn by Hollywood "It" girls including Kendall Jenner and Emily Ratajkowski (The Wilson), and called the Wilson Sun a favorite of Kendall Jenner and Emily Ratajkowski (Best Sunglasses for Women).
Why the Wilson works
The Wilson is Garrett Leight's round metal Windsor-rim frame, the kind of shape people often compare to John Lennon's glasses. It's delicate enough to let your face do the talking but distinctive enough to read as a choice. That is exactly why it pairs so easily with Kendall's minimal off-duty wardrobe of turtlenecks, trench coats and tailored trousers. Like every Garrett Leight frame, it pairs California ease with Japanese craftsmanship. It's also offered in more than one size, so the round shape can be scaled to your face instead of overwhelming it.
Shop the look
The frames she wore:
- Garrett Leight Wilson is the round metal optical frame from the sightings above, and it can be fitted with your prescription.
- Garrett Leight Wilson Sun is the sunglass version, which Garrett Leight calls one of Kendall's favorites.
Get the Palms look (similar styles, not the frame she wore): We don't carry the Palms, which Garrett Leight described as an older style back in 2015. If you love that thin-metal aviator feel, these are the closest shapes in our Garrett Leight collection:
- Garrett Leight William, a metal optical frame with a softer teardrop shape.
- Garrett Leight El Capitan Sun, a larger rectangular metal aviator sunglass.
