MYKITA's origin story is the stuff of design legend. In 2003, four friends set up shop in a former daycare center — a 'Kita' in German — in Berlin's Kreuzberg district. With more ambition than capital, they began handcrafting eyewear using a revolutionary technique: patented spiral hinges made from a single sheet of stainless steel, requiring no screws at all.

That screwless innovation became MYKITA's calling card, but it was just the beginning. The brand went on to develop MYLON, a proprietary material created using 3D printing technology that allows for shapes impossible to achieve with traditional manufacturing. Every frame is still assembled by hand in their Berlin Manufaktur — a transparent, open-plan facility where visitors can watch the entire production process.

MYKITA's design language is unmistakably modern: clean lines, architectural precision, and a material honesty that lets you see exactly how each frame is constructed. Their collaborations with Maison Margiela, Moncler, and Helmut Lang have cemented their position at the intersection of fashion and industrial design.
